Privacy Policy
We are asking adults about children. That places a hard limit on what we are willing to collect. Effective and last updated August 31, 2026 (version 2026-08-31-2).
1. Who we are
Athlete Select LLC operates getathleteselect.com, an independent equipment matching service for USSSA youth baseball bats. We are the controller of the limited data described below. Email support@getathleteselect.com for any privacy request.
2. The service is for adults
Athlete Select is directed to parents, guardians and coaches — not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, we do not offer child accounts, and we ask you not to let a child submit information here. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
3. What we never collect
A child’s name, stored date of birth, photo, video, voice, school, team name, jersey number, address, phone number, email address or precise location. There is no field for any of them anywhere in the product, and we ask you not to type them into free-text boxes.
4. Equipment-fitting answers
The matcher collects competition age group, age, approximate height and weight, experience, level of play, relative strength, hitter profile, contact/timing/sting feedback, current bat length and drop and how it feels, pitching environment, and an optional budget. These are equipment-fitting measurements, not an identity. They stay in your browser session and are cleared when the tab closes. No account is required to get a match.
5. Birthdate is used once and never stored
If you enter a birthdate, it is used in your browser only, to derive an approximate age stage and growth horizon for this one recommendation. It is never saved, never sent to our servers, never placed in a URL and never logged. Competition age group — which you choose yourself — is what drives legality. You can get a full recommendation without entering a birthdate at all.
6. Beta feedback
If you send feedback on a result we store your rating, any comment you type, an anonymous identifier for that result, the coarse competition age group, the bats we displayed and the build and rules versions. No name, no email address and no birthdate is attached. Feedback is reviewed by us, is never published with identifying detail, and never changes your result.
7. Product analytics
We record first-party, anonymous counts only: a random per-tab session identifier held in your browser’s session storage, which event occurred (for example a questionnaire step, a result shown, a feedback submission or an outbound retailer click), the coarse age group, and the app version. There are no third-party advertising or social tracking pixels, no cross-site profiles, no fingerprinting, no answers and no free text. We do not sell or share this data, and it is not used for behavioural advertising.
8. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser’s session storage to keep your in-progress questionnaire and the anonymous analytics session id, and local storage for a sign-in session if you are a staff administrator. Clearing site data removes all of it.
9. Optional email signup
If you choose to sign up for launch updates we store your email address, the consents you gave, when you gave them and the consent version. It is never linked to your athlete’s answers or to a result, it is used only to send the updates you asked for, and every message carries an unsubscribe link. Ask us and the record is deleted.
10. Retailer links
When you follow a retailer or marketplace link we record an anonymous click event on our side. The destination site is independent of us and applies its own privacy policy, cookies and tracking, including any affiliate attribution cookie. Read their policy before you purchase.
11. Service providers
We use a small number of processors to run the site: hosting and content delivery, a managed Postgres database and authentication for staff accounts, and, if you sign up, an email delivery provider. They process data on our instructions under contract. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
12. How long we keep things
Questionnaire answers: browser session only. Birthdate: not retained at all. Feedback and anonymous analytics: retained while they remain useful for improving the matcher, and deleted or aggregated when they are not. Email signups: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
13. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in a managed database with row-level access rules. Match sessions are not publicly listable, and administrative surfaces require staff authentication. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small.
14. Your rights and choices
You can use the matcher without entering a birthdate, an email address or any optional answer. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information we hold, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Email support@getathleteselect.com and we will action a verified request within the period required by applicable law.
15. International users
The service is operated from the United States and data is processed there. If you use it from another country, you understand that processing takes place in the United States.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy the effective date and version above change with it, and material changes will be noted on the updates page.
